Lawson Bros is also well-known for its specialised services in heritage projects. The company is a leader in lead, copper and zinc roofing work on heritage-listed and all other buildings, where sound management and able tradespeople are required to apply specialist skills to produce a high level of quality in both new and refurbishment work performed.

An example of a completed project, is the specialised work performed by Lawson Bros on the Delacy Dome at St Vincent’s Hospital in Darlinghurst, Sydney. The works involved the replacement of the pre-existing copper roofing of the dome; provision of scaffold access, site management; demolition; renewal of woodwork to the dome; provision of new plywood substrate and the removal of a membraned flat roof to the base of the dome. Also, the renewal of defective sections of mouldings and specialist sections, and the fabrication and renewal of copper sheeting and profiles to the dome. Refurbishment and repairs to a crucifix; and the refixing and sealing of same; the renewal of windows and the reglazing of stained-glass windows. All copper work was executed to historical requirements and in accordance with British Standard Code of Practice.

Brisbane Town Hall
Replacement of historical copper dome roof (approx 2000 square metres)—the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. The works involved each individual panel to be measured, removed and replaced with hand made panels, complete with double lock seams. Carpentry and substrate repairs were also involved in the works. Over 20 tonnes of copper were installed during the project..

Sydney Town Hall Refurbishment
Supply and installation of lead sheet coverings to sandstone facade refurbishment at various cornice, ledge, parapet levels as well as pediment caps, both spherical and angular.

Marcus Clarke Building Sydney Institute of Technology
Copper roofing refurbishment. Extensive lead weatherings to sandstone ledges, cornices etc. Colorbond roofing and flashings, miscellaneous repairs and replacement of roofing at all levels of façade refurbishment.

St Patricks College, Manly - Refurbishment
Removal and replacement of site-specific Cast Iron gutters and downpipes including patterns and casting of same, painting to specification, replacement of defective roof timber work; lead flashings, shutes, downpipes, copper flashings, slate repairs and replacement to roof areas, replacement of lead ridge roll to entire roof. Replacement of slate roofing to Ceretti Chapel. All work involved detail type work to an extremely sensitive facade.

Bellevue Hill – New Zinc Roof
Supply, fabrication and installation of zinc roofing to an extension on an existing prestigious home. Box gutters, flashings and edge provisions were included.
